The Town of Mansfield is one of the five municipalities to receive funding from the state to modernize and rehabilitate housing. MANSFIELD — The Towns of Mansfield and Coventry are the recipients of grants that were awarded from the Connecticut Department of Housing.

The state awarded $10.7 million in grants to five municipalities to modernize and rehabilitate housing for low- and moderate-income residents and to fund infrastructure upgrades. The funds are being released through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities program.

These funds are administered by the Connecticut Department of Housing, along with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Under this program, eligible projects must be located in a municipality with fewer than 50,000 residents.

In addition, the grants will help develop affordable housing, modernize a domestic violence shelter, enhance services for the most vulnerable and create and retain jobs. The Town of Mansfield will receive $2,200,000 in grants to go toward the modernization of Wright’s Village public housing.
